LinkWell saves your links on your device. It works offline and without an account, permanently — that is not a trial. The free tier holds up to 250 links and shows one banner advert.
The most important thing on this page: Lifetime is a one-time purchase that removes the advert and the link limit on your device only. It does not include syncing between devices. Sync, the browser extension and cloud backup run on servers we pay for monthly, so they are part of the Pro subscription.
All payments are taken by Apple or Google, renew until you cancel in the store, and are refunded by the store rather than by us. You can export everything to a file at any time, on any plan.
The agreement
These Terms are an agreement between you and AroraLabs, based in Australia, covering the LinkWell app, the browser extension and linkwell.aroralabs.org (together, the Service). By installing or using the Service you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it.
How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
What LinkWell is
LinkWell saves links and documents so you can read them later, and keeps offline copies of pages you open. Those copies are a convenience, not a permanent archive: the web changes, and pages can disappear. If a link matters to you, keep your own copy.
LinkWell is not a general web browser and not a publishing platform. Nothing you save is ever given a public web address by us — sharing means exporting a file and sending it yourself.
Accounts & eligibility
You must be at least 13, and old enough to form a binding contract where you live. The app works fully without an account; you only need one for Pro. Keep your sign-in details to yourself — you are responsible for what happens under your account.
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you control. You may not resell it, reverse-engineer it, or work around its limits, security or licensing.
Your vault is yours
We claim no ownership of the links, notes, tags or folders you create. Where you use Pro, you grant us only the narrow licence needed to run it: to store, transmit, back up and display your vault to you and your own devices, and to nobody else. It ends when you delete the data or your account, and gives us no right to use your vault for advertising, profiling, resale or training machine-learning models.
You are responsible for what you save and for having the right to save it.
The free tier & adverts
The free tier is permanent, not a trial. It holds up to 250 links and shows a single banner advert supplied by Google. If you reach the cap, nothing you have already saved is lost or hidden — you are asked to upgrade or remove some links before saving more.
Any paid plan removes the advert and the cap.
Pro & Lifetime
There are two kinds of paid upgrade. They are not tiers of the same thing, and the difference matters before you buy.
Pro — a subscription
- Removes the adverts and the cap, and adds syncing between devices, your highlights and reading position, the browser extension, and cloud backup.
- Offered as recurring plans (for example monthly and yearly) that renew until you cancel.
- May start with a free trial; its length and the price afterwards are shown before you confirm.
- It is the only plan that syncs between devices.
Lifetime — a one-time, local purchase
- Removes the adverts and the cap permanently. One payment, nothing to renew or cancel.
- Restores on a new device via Restore purchases, under the store account you bought it with.
- Does not include sync, the browser extension or cloud backup.
Prices, plan names and trial lengths are shown in the app and confirmed by the store at the moment of purchase, and may change over time. A price change never affects a Lifetime purchase you have already made. We will not remove a materially significant feature from a tier you have already paid for without offering a reasonable remedy.
Payments & refunds
- Apple and Google take every payment. We never see your card details.
- Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel, at the price shown when you bought.
- Cancel in your store account settings — only the store can cancel a subscription. You keep the features until the period you have paid for ends.
- Refunds are handled by the store, under its policy, not by us. We will help you where we can.
- Deleting your LinkWell account does not cancel your subscription. Only the store can cancel it, so cancel there first or you will keep being charged for an account you no longer use.
- If a payment fails or a subscription lapses, the paid features switch off. Your local vault is untouched and keeps working, and your cloud data stays readable so you can retrieve it.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use LinkWell to:
- store or distribute material that is unlawful where you are — in particular child sexual abuse material, content inciting violence or terrorism, or material infringing someone's intellectual property or privacy;
- get around the limits of your tier, the adverts, or any security or licensing measure, including by using a modified build;
- access or try to access another person's account or data;
- place unreasonable load on our infrastructure, or bulk-scrape or mirror third-party websites;
- resell the Service or provide it commercially to others.
We do not monitor your vault, and on the local tiers we have no ability to.
Availability & termination
The local app works offline and indefinitely. The cloud parts depend on infrastructure we operate and are provided on an as available basis; they may be briefly unavailable for maintenance, and we may set reasonable fair-use limits.
If we permanently discontinue a cloud feature we will give reasonable notice, keep export available, and stop charging for it — refunding or pro-rating any period you have paid for but cannot use, so far as the store's mechanisms allow.
You can stop using LinkWell at any time and delete your account from Settings. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaches these Terms, or where we must by law. If your subscription simply lapses we do not delete your cloud data.
Disclaimers & liability
The Service is provided as is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that offline copies will always be complete, or that a saved page will still exist when you return to it.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data you did not export. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
The stores
Your use of the app is also subject to the terms of the store you got it from. For apps obtained through Apple, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies in addition to these Terms, and:
- this agreement is between you and AroraLabs, not Apple;
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app;
- Apple is not responsible for any product warranties, or for addressing any claim relating to the app — including product liability, legal compliance and intellectual property;
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
Equivalent principles apply to apps obtained through Google Play.
Governing law, changes & contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. This does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection laws where you live, or of the right to bring proceedings there if your local law gives you that right.
We may update these Terms — for a material change we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect, and the date at the top of this page always shows the current version. Continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the change.
Before starting formal proceedings, please email us so we can try to sort it out informally. Most things are a misunderstanding: support@aroralabs.org.
